Whizz Education is a rapidly growing, award winning, online tutoring and digital education publishing company, specialising in primary and early secondary school maths.
Founded by Ron van der Meer, previously the world’s leading creator of pop up books and ex Oxford University maths graduate, Richard Marett, along with Ray Douse and Ben Keogh, Whizz Education brought together a diverse team of leading educationalists and talented Whizzers to develop engaging, educationally powerful and easy to use maths resources and online services that make a measurable and meaningful difference to students.
Whizz Education works with parents, schools and departments of education to increase achievement levels in maths for 5 to 13 year olds through individualised tutoring, whole class tools and application of best practices.
Products and services
- The BETT award-winning Maths-Whizz® Teachers' Resource suite of software, covering all the primary and early secondary school age groups, has become one of the best-selling and endorsed whole class maths resource products, used in over 4000 UK primary schools, across 5 US States, all primary schools in Moscow as well as schools in several other countries around the world.
- Maths-Whizz® Tutoring Plus is a unique online interactive tutoring service delivered that is enjoyed by 150,000 students world-wide. Maths-Whizz delivers proven measurable results: students who use Maths-Whizz for 60 minutes a week typically improve their “maths age” by 1.6 years in the space of 12 months.
Whizz Education has offices in London, Seattle and Dubai, is privately funded and been operating since Jan 1st, 2004. Since 2010 Whizz has taken on commercial partners to represent Maths-Whizz in Jordan, Russia and New Zealand and is expecting to expand its presence in 5 additional countries in 2012.
The company aims to grow into a global brand by supplying school and home customers with personalised tutoring services in core curriculum and life-skill subjects.
