Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Another really proud day for Whizz Education! Building on the success of winning the Bett Awards for Maths Key Stage 1 and Keystage 2 earlier this year, Whizz Education has shown that it not only has a winning formula in Maths-Whizz, but a great workforce as highlighted by winning the Natwest Startup Team of the Year 2006.

Here is the lowdown from what was said at the Natwest Business Awards for the Team of the Year:

About the business

Whizz Education provide innovative maths educational software for schools. In addition they are the first to deliver simulated private online tuition for children at home. Launched in January 2004, they have exceeded targets. In particular they have created a great team spirit based on personal responsibility and very flexible working hours.

Judges’ comments

Whizz Education have produced a truly innovative product with a clearly defined market. The product is also proven to produce results with pupils showing a measurable advancement in their “maths age” after using it. In addition the product has won a BETT award, which means the education industry recognises it as being an exceptional product.

The scalability of the product is also clearly evident and makes this company an attractive proposition. In just two years the company has achieved a 10% penetration into the UK primary school market, which is ahead of their forecasts. Much of this success is a result of the strong team of 40 people the company employ and partner with. Whizz Education offer very flexible working hours and all staff receive share options in the company. The result is a company where staff have a sense of personal responsibility and an employment churn rate that is exceptionally low.

Hamsters Going Cheap…

A lot of parents have been telling us that the Hamsters in the shop are too expensive, so we’ve made it easier to get the electronic rodents. Your child might finally be able to afford one, but just because the hamsters are cheaper, it doesn’t make them any less special, they need to be fed just as often and cared for just as much!
