Leroy loves maths. It’s just everything else that’s hard. But here’s a problem he can’t solve… 1 maths geek + 1 crazy mix up + 1 star spot on a TV quiz show = 1 big mess! Can Leroy make it all add up?
This is Counting on Leroy, an educational maths story published last year by Hilary Koll and Steve Mills, the experts who devised the questions in every one of our 1200-odd Maths-Whizz lessons.
Counting on Leroy was recently shortlisted for the Southwark Book Award and beaten to first prize by just 17 votes! Here are some choice testimonials from the Southwark schoolchildren who voted for Counting on Leroy – they pretty much say it all:

This book has been my favourite because it is hilarious and has maths tricks inside that I didn’t know. I have learnt lots of new maths tricks.

Counting on Leroy is a mind boggoling book full of knowledge and exitement. Once Leroy gets to be in a master-mind quiz-everything goes wrong beacause he has to answer questions which are not about maths .

Leroy seems to be a good little boy and he loves counting the flowers on he’s
bedroom wallpaper. Every morning he always counts something. The most
attractive thing about the book is the front cover because you could tell straight
away that Leroy’s head is going to explode with numbers.
The cover says that Leroy is a maths geek and he always doing maths. Every hour every minutes of the day Leroy doing maths or something connected to maths. I would dedicate the book to a maths alcoholic who can’t get enough of maths as this the right book for them. It is a very good book. The marks I would give the book are 10 out of 10.
