As promised here, the Maths-Whizz experience is changing.
We’re launching a new website, and updating our online service for schools, parents, and students, alike. Users will very soon see the following changes:
New website
The Whizz site has been overhauled to make it easier to navigate around, find the right information and products, and just more fun to use.
New student experience
Children logging into Maths-Whizz will be able to connect to a personal control panel with leaderboards, ‘buddy’ lists and links to our new Replay tool.
Console: Students will be able to see information about their credits, receive messages from the tutor, choose a Whizz character to represent them, and access other new features.
Replay: Replay is a great new way of reinforcing learning and earning more credits in the process. When students click on Replay in the console students will see the exercises they have completed in the order they did them, the most recent first.
By hovering the mouse over the exercise students will also be able to view their best score, and click to launch the exercise. With a new feature students will be able to challenge friends (see ‘Beat my Buddy’ below), so there’s even more incentive to repeat exercises.
Beat my Buddy: Your student will be able to add friends or ‘Buddies’ to their console. They’ll need to know their Whizz name (username) to do this. When they’ve added buddies they will be able to see how they’re doing with the buddies leader board in the console.
Every time your student completes an exercise that a friend has done Maths-Whizz will issue a challenge to their Buddy to try and beat their score in Replay. Your student will be able to see their challenges by clicking “Challenges†in Replay.
Maths-Whizz leader boards: There are three leader boards in the console - My Buddies, My School and Whizz. My Buddies shows how many credits your student is collecting compared with their Buddies, this is on a weekly and overall basis. If the student is linked to their school (parents can do this from the account page) he or she will be able to see if anyone else at their school is using Maths-Whizz and how they’re doing. The Whizz leader board show the top ten Whizzers overall. Your student will have to work hard to make it on to this list!Â
New parent account pages
Parents will also get a new experience with Maths-Whizz. Parent account pages have been reorganised to make it easier to manage student accounts, suspend or re-start subscriptions, view and edit key information and catch up with the latest Whizz news.
