Key Stage 3 Curriculum Revamp
The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority today launched online consultation for the proposed changes to the national curriculum at key stage 3 through the secondary curriculum review.
Ken Boston, Chief Executive of QCA said:
This review is an important step in modernising the curriculum for children aged 11 and above.
The BBC education website summarises the changes:
An updated secondary school curriculum, offering skills and languages relevant to modern learners, has been announced.
It will give pupils “social and cultural flexibility” and a “feeling for justice and fairness”, says the QCA curriculum watchdog.
The proposed changes for 11 to 14 year olds in England encourage languages such as Mandarin and topics such as global warming and the slave trade.
