Creating a triangle of Success

Now, more than ever, a child's success in Numeracy is critical. Educators, parents, researchers and child experts agree that one of the best ways to maximize a student's learning is to create a strong link between home and school, or what we at Whizz refer to as The Triangle of Success. All of us - teachers, parents and even students, are very busy, and finding time to think of ways to complete this triangle can be overwhelming. So, we put together a few ideas for you!

New Feature: Report Sharing

Whizz Education gives parents and teachers the opportunity to connect through Maths-Whizz. Parents of children who receive their Maths-Whizz Account through their schools can sign up to receive updates on their child's progress. Sign up for free email updates or subscribe to the Parent Dashboard for full access.

Parents of children with home accounts can opt to share their child's Maths-Whizz reports with their school teachers, providing them with more information about their students' strengths, weaknesses and potential learning gaps. In a classroom that can range from 20 to 30 students having access to this information, without having to administer additional tests, can be very helpful for teachers.

Sharing reports is more than just sharing information about the student. It is creating a shared learning community between teachers, parents and students; fostering communication and maximizing a student's learning potential.

Top Tips

The Topic Bank

Located on the bookshelf in the Whizz Room, the Topic Bank allows students to review any lessons going back 1 year from their current Maths Age

    These lessons allow you to
  • Review foundational skills to support learning in tutor mode
  • Remediate on topics a student may be struggling with
  • Practice earlier skills to reinforce learning and improve automaticity

The Topic Bank is different from Tutor and Reply Mode in that it contains the perquisite lessons for the topics presented to them in Tutor Mode. When a student completes the Tutor Mode lessons, those lessons become available in Reply.

Thanks for your support at BETT

Whizz Education would like to say 'Thank you' to all who helped makes BETT a huge success! Taking place in Olympia, London, in January, we heard from many teachers currently using Maths-Whizz, and we met with educators and education students from all over the world interested in Raising Standards in Maths with Maths-Whizz.

Even thought the past few years have presented many challenges to schools and teachers, BETT 2011 was buzzing with excitement. The successful shift of educational policy in some regions was mainly responsible for this buzz, with '21st Century Learning' as a defining phrase. BETT was able to showcase the realization of educators and governments that they are able to give all children the future they deserve; ensuring universal access to quality education through technology.
