Key Stage 2
Maths-Whizz for Key Stage 2 covers all Primary National Strategy objectives and Primary Framework Blocks for Years 3 through 6.
Maths-Whizz lessons for KS2 reflect the increasing maturity of students in the language employed and the graphics that illustrate the problems.
- Narration is provided where needed, but many lessons challenge the student to solve the problem without the aid of voice-over.
- Visuals in KS2 are more sophisticated and complex. Most emulate the type of imagery children see in books, films and on television. Some humour and physical comedy is introduced.
- Exercises in this Key Stage are still easy to understand, but are more advanced than in KS1. Solving the exercises may involve a higher level of interaction with the subject matter. Questions are often longer and more complex than in KS1.
- On-screen help is generally designed to encourage the child to take a fresh look at the problem and reach a successful conclusion.
- Successful completion of Maths-Whizz for KS2 gives students a solid foundation for success in Key Stage 2 SATs and promotion to KS3.
