It’s been a joy to hear from parents and teachers around the world getting in touch to tell us all about the incredible progress your children and students have been making. After reading through your entries, we’ve finally picked our winner for July.
So without further ado, allow us to introduce the July Maths-Whizz Champion…Glory from the UK. Great job, Glory!
A hearty congratulations also to everybody that was nominated. It was a fantastic effort from each and every one of you. Keep it up!
We spoke with Glory’s mum to find out more about his love of maths, what he likes about Maths-Whizz and how she encourages him on his learning journey.
Whizz Education: How long have you been using Maths-Whizz?
Mireille: We have been using Maths-Whizz for more than one year now.
W: What are the biggest improvements you’ve noticed in your child?
M: My son loves maths a lot and numbers is one of his most favourite things he likes doing. He has always been good with numbers since the age of two, and Maths-Whizz is the only way for him to be challenged in different areas and for him to keep on practising and improving.
Ever since he joined Maths-Whizz there have been a lot of changes in him. I have noticed my son to be more confident, find it easy to answer the questions more quickly, and know exactly what he is doing, which is something that he has never done before. For example, before when you ask him a question like ‘how did you find the answer?’, it used to be very difficult for him to explain how he did it.
W: What does your child like most about Maths-Whizz?
M: My son loves everything about Maths-Whizz, especially the levels. He likes to keep his superstar status, he likes the challenges like the rapid recalls, the games and the noises it makes.
W: What are the best ways you’ve found to encourage your child to use Maths-Whizz?
M: As my son loves maths a lot, he always does the exercise and the test by himself and does not really need my help most of the time. I only help him when he finds it tricky and difficult to find the answer. But I always encourage him to take breaks and not do too much.
Congratulations again to Glory, our Maths-Whizz Champion for July! We’d like to say a special thanks to everyone who nominated their child or student, and a huge well done to everyone who received a nomination. You’re all winners in our eyes.
If you feel that your child or one of your students is deserving of a nomination, please get in touch. Perhaps they have been putting in extra effort, developed increased confidence in maths, or made great strides in their understanding of the subject. Whatever the reason, if you think they deserve recognition for their work, nominate them for the August Maths-Whizz Champion award now!
