Maths-Whizz is aligned to the 2014 National Curriculum for England

September 2014 marked the dawn of the new national curriculum in all local authority schools in England. Change can be daunting and, unfortunately, these particular changes have caused a certain degree of confusion for some teachers.

Do you feel prepared for the new curriculum?

If you’re in agreement with the Secretary General of the National Association of Head Teachers, then you might be concerned that the new curriculum puts too much emphasis on more advanced topics at a younger age. Or you might be concerned that it puts too much emphasis on skills for the ‘modern world’, leaving parents feeling alienated when it comes to homework.

Whether you love it or you hate it, the new national curriculum is here to stay (well, for the next few years). So we thought we’d offer a bit of a helping hand by eliminating the hassle of extra lesson planning, which can often come hand in hand with curriculum reshuffles like these.

How can Maths-Whizz help?

We’re supporting you with your maths lesson planning (good luck with your new English lessons!). You can plan for curriculum coverage using curriculum mapping in Maths-Whizz Teachers’ Resource and the Curriculum Reports in your Maths-Whizz Tutoring Plus Reports.

1) Curriculum mapping in Teachers’ Resource

All Maths-Whizz Teachers’ Resource exercises and worksheets are now mapped to the new 2014 National Curriculum for England.

This means that you can plan for optimal curriculum coverage and build every lesson around key curriculum requirements with ease.

When you first log in to Teachers’ Resource, select ‘2014 National Curriculum for England’ from the curriculum view and then choose your desired year group.

2) Curriculum Reports in Tutoring Plus

Since Maths-Whizz is aligned to the new curriculum, we thought we’d provide a handy new tool to help you plan for curriculum coverage even more easily…

Your Reports now include an overview of your students’ progress through all of the expected standards within the 2014 National Curriculum for England. Our educationalists have broken the new National Curriculum for England into individual standards to help you keep track of how your students are doing.

For each standard, you will be able to see the associated learning objectives and their coverage within Maths-Whizz lessons (viewed as either a percentage or a fraction). This means that you will know exactly which lessons have been covered, are yet to be covered, or might require extra attention outside of Maths-Whizz Tutoring Plus.

Maths-Whizz covers 96% of all required National Curriculum for England learning objectives, with full visibility on any that are not covered. You’re armed with everything you need to ensure that your students receive the full curriculum.

Log in and find the Curriculum Report button at the top of your Class Report to check out your students’ progress so far.
