CEO & Co-founder
In this position Richard has had direct experience working with individual schools, ministries of education, donor organisations and commercial partners in six continents across the globe, to raise standards in math for 5 to 13 year olds through the provision of online individualised tutoring, teacher-led digital tools and application of best practices. Richard also drives and participates in product research and innovation, collaborating with academia and industry to further the frontiers of online virtual tutoring and capacity building to use ICT for learning.
Richard graduated from Oxford University in 1994 with a BA and MA in mathematics.
Ray’s 30 year career in investment banking and venture capital saw him lead multinational teams in M & A and corporate finance transactions between Europe, Japan, Asia and North America. As a director of Hill Samuel, Apax, and Daiwa Europe, Ray has had wide experience of mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and IPOs, especially in the software, media and electronics sectors. Ray is a graduate of New College, Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

Bill has worked extensively for media and content-related companies throughout his career – most recently in Enterprise and Solution Architecture positions for IMG World and ITV Plc. Prior to this, Bill was an entrepreneur, Software Director for a leading European digital distribution company, CTO of a streaming media start-up and Programme Manager for Microsoft in Sydney, Australia. As Head of Technology and Chief Architect of Whizz Education, Bill is responsible for designing and delivering the technology and content strategy to meet all current and future business requirements and for building a world-class technology capability.
Dr Junaid Mubeen,
Director of Education
Junaid studied and taught mathematics for eight years at St Anne’s College, Oxford, where he also served as an admissions officer. He went on to study for a Master’s in Education at Harvard as a Kennedy Scholar. Prior to joining Whizz Education, Junaid co-founded Write the World, a Boston-based social writing platform for high school students. Junaid is excited by the potential of technology to afford every child a personalised learning experience. He is a keen writer and speaker on Education, and teaches small groups of primary and secondary students in his spare time.

Trevor was formerly an Executive Director of Man Asia, part of Man Group plc. He brings wide international commercial experience as a Non-executive Director of a number of companies including Whizz Education.
Rosie is a Headmistress whose teaching career spans 15 years and encompasses the full range of age groups and educational sectors. She graduated from the University of Nottingham with First Class Honours in History and moved straight into the teaching profession, quickly developing an interest in values based educational models. In 2011 she was part of the founding team of a schools' group which now employs over 200 staff. Core values have remained central to the group's successful development, as well as a focus on the needs of pupils as individuals. Rosie is passionate about education and creating values based environments which enable young people to make the most of the opportunities available to them.
Sir Eric Peacock,
Sir Eric is a serial entrepreneur who took Babygro Plc to a full Stock Exchange Listing after an earlier career as Managing Director of other textile businesses. He was knighted in 2003 for services to international trade, and has sat on numerous Government boards,including currently that of UK Export Finance. He is Chairman of a number of high growth businesses with international dimensions in widely differing sectors, and has broad experience of start ups, turnarounds, internationalisation, financing, acquiring, disposal and flotation.Sir Eric is also Chairman of the charities AB Trust which operates in Uganda, Uniqueness helping school leavers to achieve their goals, Teens Unite supporting 16-25 year olds with terminal cancers and The Peacock Foundation which focusses on childrens’ creativity through art. He is a graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast.
Ron van der Meer,
Whizz Education was founded by Ron van der Meer, a pioneer of interactive pop-up books for children and adults.
Ron created more than 150 three-dimensional books, including numerous award winning international all-time bestsellers.
His books on Mathematics, with Bob Gardner, The Maths Kit and the Maths Master series for 3 to 9 year olds, sold more than 1.2 million copies in over 15 countries.
This success inspired him to start Whizz Education. Ron is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague, Holland, and the Royal College of Art, London.
