Using Math-Whizz

Do I need to purchase a subscription for each child?

Yes, each child needs their own subscription in order to use Math-Whizz. Math-Whizz is personalized to each child, so sharing an account will affect the Tutor’s ability to deliver lessons tailored to a child’s specific needs.

How are credits earned?
Each lesson is worth up to 15 credits, while each exam is worth up to 30 credits. You can earn up to 10 credits for beating your original score and time in Replay mode. Credits can be spent in the Whizz Shop.
The same lesson keeps being delivered, how can I fix this?
You need to clear your web browser’s ‘cache’ or ‘history.’ This is sometimes referred to as ‘temporary internet files’ and are often found under the preferences or options menu in your browser.
How often should Math-Whizz be used?
Math-Whizz is most effective when children use Tutor mode for 60 minutes per week, in 3-4 sessions of 15-20 minutes each. Students needing an extra boost can benefit from using Tutor mode for up to 90 minutes each week.
How is usage time calculated in Math-Whizz?
Only the time spent in Tutor Mode and Replay is counted as usage. The tutorial part of the lesson is not counted as usage, the time starts when the student is asked the first question in each lesson. Students must complete the entire lesson or test for the usage to be recorded and displayed in their report.
What grades does Math-Whizz cover?
Math-Whizz covers content generally delivered in grades K-8. Subscribers have access to all content.
My child is not reading yet, can they still use Math-Whizz?
Yes, all lessons aimed at those K-2 have an audio component and reading comprehension is not necessary.
How does Math-Whizz personalize instruction?
Math-Whizz uses an initial placement test and then assesses students consistently within lessons and at specific checkpoints within the curriculum. Our continuous assessment model enables Math-Whizz to truly individualize instruction for every student, adapting our lessons, scaffolding, pacing based and help on each student’s unique needs. As students work through their curriculum, Math-Whizz responds immediately – keeping students on track and progressing.
Which browsers can I use Math-Whizz on?

Math-Whizz is fully compatible with the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

Can I use Math-Whizz on an iPad or tablet?

Yes, Math-Whizz is compatible with iPads and most tablets.

Recommended minimum requirements for Math-Whizz are:

  • WebGL-enabled graphics card

What are the minimum system requirements to run Math-Whizz?

Account FAQs

I purchased through the Homeschool Buyers Co-op. How do I set up my account?

You should have received an email from the Homeschool Buyers Co-op with a voucher code. To set up your Math-Whizz account, follow the steps below.

How to set up a Math-Whizz subscription with a Homeschool Buyers Co-op Voucher:

  1. Click here to create your Parent Account.
  2. Log in to your Parent Account.
  3. Follow the instructions to set up your child and select 'Voucher Code' when you reach the subscription options page.
  4. Enter your unique voucher code and confirm.

If you have any issues setting up your Math-Whizz subscription, please contact Support.

Can I change my child's username?
No, usernames are generated by our system and cannot be changed.

Billing FAQs

How will I be billed?

Annual and monthly subscriptions both renew automatically at the end of each subscription period.

How do I update my billing details?
  1. Log in to your Parent Account.
  2. Click the three dots in the right-hand corner and select 'My Account'.
  3. Scroll down to the 'Payment Method' section.
  4. Follow the instructions to edit your payment method.
What are my cancellation rights?

When you first subscribe you are entitled to cancel your subscription within the first seven working days of making your subscription and receive a refund. To find out how to cancel your subscription, please refer to ‘How do I cancel my subscription?’ below. In the event that you do cancel your subscription within the first seven working days, Whizz Education will refund in full any payment we have received from you for the subscription.

Following the expiry of seven working days, you may cancel your future payment obligations for the Service at any time by again following the instructions “How do I cancel my subscription?” below at least 24 hours before any new payment is due. In the event of such cancellation, Whizz Education will not refund you or credit your account with any amounts you have paid us in advance that relate to any remaining period of the subscription, including any amounts paid or due to be paid immediately prior to our receiving your notice of cancellation.

Lastly, you may change a subscription from monthly in advance to one year in advance online by following the instructions on your Parent Account. If you change the payment basis for a subscription these terms and conditions will continue to apply to the subscription.

How do I cancel my subscription?
  1. Log in to your Parent Account.
  2. Click the three dots in the right-hand corner and select 'Students'
  3. Click 'Cancel Subscription' under the name of the student you would like to cancel.
  4. Confirm your cancellation by clicking 'Yes' on the pop-up that appears.
What is the Math-Whizz Money-Back Guarantee?

We strive to ensure that you have the best possible experience with Math-Whizz. That’s why you are covered by the following guarantee if you meet all of the following conditions.

If, in relation to the premium Service, Math-Whizz Tutoring Plus, all of the following conditions are satisfied, namely:

  1. a period of at least one year has elapsed since you paid an annual subscription or, if you are initially a monthly subscriber, since you paid the first monthly subscription;
  2. for an initial monthly subscriber, either 12 monthly payments have been made or a lesser number of monthly payments plus an annual subscription (if you decide to convert your monthly subscription to an annual subscription);
  3. the usage report about your Student shows that he or she has spent at least 52 hours on Math-Whizz exercises in Tutor Mode within the one year period since the subscription began (equivalent to 60 minutes per week);
  4. having completed the initial Math-Whizz assessment without assistance, your Student’s average math age has not improved by one year or more from the average math age at his/her initial Math-Whizz assessment as recorded in your Student’s text report; and
  5. you contact us by email to request your money back within 15 days of the end of the one year period since the subscription began,

then we will refund the whole of the subscription fees you have paid with respect to that Student for the period of one year (pro rating any annual subscription paid in conversion of a monthly subscription within the one-year period so that the amount of it refunded corresponds to the number of months which have elapsed between payment of the annual subscription and the end of the one-year period).

Am I entitled to the sibling discount?

We offer a discount for multiple subscriptions on both annual and monthly plans. If you have a monthly subscription, each additional monthly subscription you add to your account will cost just $19.99/mo. If you have an annual subscription, each additional annual subscription will cost just $149.99/yr and each additional monthly subscription will cost just $19.99/mo.
